sandander and their charges

Options
hi

i am new to all this.
wondered if anyone can help and shed some light on all the goings on with santander, they seem to be charging me left right and centre, bouncing cheques, and mainly charged me over £643.00 to move my santander mortgage from the 1st of the month to 15th of the month.

i cannot get to the bottom of how they have got to that figure.
it seems a heluva lot of money to charge me just for moving it 14 days.
further more, they have now not taken the correct amount, twice this happened, i was misinformed of how much, initially they said it would be £1200.05, on the 15th then took £960 on the 15th and then said i still owed the £643.00..............
which clearly i did not have.
they then advised they that would take my mortgage out each month with an extra £100 for the next six months, which in turn has affected my credit scoring/rating.
Which they claim they will rectify in six months time.

i am at my wits end.
i do not know how they have got to this figure for moving it 14 days, which is a D/D coming out of their 123 account which i set up, and had no end of problems with that too.
I also do not know how they can take an extra £100 a month and it is affecting my credit rating and how i can put this right.

Every one i talk to at santander, whether on the phone or over the counter are clueless and really not making any sense at all

£643 is a heluva lot of money

HELP, HELP HELP, PLEASE

Afraid anyone outside Santander will not have a clue - there could be a sensible reason, or incompetence so take your pick!

Moving a payment date is quite a major thing and may incur costs, but you should have been advised of them before agreeing to the move. Make an appointment at your local branch and ask for it to be explained in detail.

You want to be doing things in writing, as you might have to take this forward as a written complaint.

Are you sure the £643 is a charge? could it not be a payment for a partial month? (ie it is actually coming off your balance)

You need to sit down and get to grip with your finances. As to be honest your issues appear to be of your making. Review your outgoings and cut back where ever you can.

If you are incurring late payment/overdraft fees then your credit rating is going to reflect this. Irrespective of the mortgage position.

Suggest you make an appointment with your local CAB if your are struggling to understand what's going on.

How much is your mortgage payment normally as moving dates will result in that months payment being larger than the others as its 45 days rather than 30.

After that the payment should be the same as it was before you moved the dates.

This should have been explained when you asked to move the date as moving it doesnt give you an extra 'free' number of days.

i thought it may be a partial month, as initially they said it would be a difference of £243.
therefore taking the amount of £1200.05 on the 15th of March, then £930 15th April 2013, and then every month on 15th.
They didnt take the direct debit of £1200.05, but £930.00
they then said that we have arrears of £613.26????????

we was not advised of the amount.
they then said they need to be paid the money and then they said we would have to pay an extra £100 a month on top of the mortgage to clear the arrears?
which they have set up, and this is classed i believe as a payment plan, and they have told us this will affect our credit scoring/rate for the next six months until it is paid.
after that, they said that they will clear the credit scoring and make it all better so to speak...................????

this is not any of our doing.
we ony wanted to change the direct debit from HSBC on 1st of the month to Santander account on 15th of month and have incurred and amount of £613.23 and arrears and a payment plan and bad credit scoring.

    :(

What do you mean move from HSBC to Santander? Did you switch mortgages or did you change bank accounts?

If you changed bank accounts then all DD dates would have transferred over. If you wanted to change the mortgage date then you would need to call HSBC and ask them to switch it, not change it yourself.

The only straight answer you are going to get is to call up Santander or go to a branch and have them sit down and go through all the figures with you.

Given the limited information available it is difficult to say what all the charges, etc are for.

we changed the direct debit from hsbc which went out on the 1st to santander account to 15th, and it is a santander mortgage not a hsbc mortgage
