Fraudulant pay slip??

It could be tax avoidance, if he is pocketing the money. His wages may have been reduced so he did not fall into the 40% tax bracket and he paid a salary in his wifes name who I'm assuming had no other employment or claiming benefits. How long ago is this? I think you should contact HMRC and ask them how many years have you been "working", what your gross wages and tax paid were.
I would have thought you would have had something through the post from HMRC, notification of your tax code or something.0 -
If he dis decide to say that he paid it into the home then would he need something signed from me to state where this money was going? We have seperate personal bank accounts and a joint account. The day I told him I was leaving he emptied the joint account of thousands of pounds without telling me.
If something would of needed signing for where thes "wages" go then I haven't signed a thing. I also was not aware of this until I stumbled across these payslips myself.Started Comping September 2012

No, no need for you to sign to agree where the salary went.
Your biggest issue here is that it would be very difficult to claim you didn't know any of this when you were company secretary

Thanks for all the advice. Think I'll just have to put this in the list of his very sly, devious behaviour and draw a line under it. It's amazing how you can be with somebody for years but not actually know them he deserves a prize for his ability to lie.
I apologise for all the typos too. I'm typing on my phone.Started Comping September 2012

This is extremely common practice. He would probably have been advised by his accountant. Almost all the leisurely wives I know whose husbands are in the trade are the business secretary... they just arrange appointments from their mobile on the golf course!0

But as an officer of the Company you should have been aware. That is one of the reasons you need to be very careful about what actions you decide to take.0 -
OP do you know for certain that he has stopped doing this?
Otherwise, it is going to affect your tax and tax credits, and possibly other benefits as officially you are already earning.
DxI'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -
Yes. The business he had he dissolved when we split and straight away started it again in a new name.Started Comping September 2012

I would call the tax office and askWe’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
