Before you go and stock up, do a 'stock take ' of what you already have indoors you maybe suprised at the amount you have in the cupboards I started doing this last October and have managed to cut back on my food budget by around 30-40%.I keep a list by the kettle of essentials that I 'need' to buy to go with what I've already got, or have run out of ,and if you stick as closely as possible to your list you will cut your food bill quite dramatically.
I also make use of everything I have in store and try not to bin anything even if it means changing my menu plan a bit to use things up.Sad bendy veg gets made into HM soup, it costs pennies to make and will 'pad' out a meal to two courses and also freezes very well.Or you can make a veggie curry which will use up veg to make a main course and will help to cut down on the buying of meat I am not a veggie as such, but a couple of days meat free a week will help with the food bills as well.Simply by re-arranging your buying and shopping habits you will be suprised at how much less you have to spend out I also only use cash to buy food with as a debit or c/card means you shop without thinking and its so easy to think 'oh that looks nice ' and chuck it in the trolley.Talking of trolley's try to use a basket as that too makes for less spending when you have to lug it around.just a few hints to help you streeetch your cash a bit further
