Newbie! Please be kind!

Hi

I have just created registration details for the forum. There are so many threads on here, where do I start?

I have about £12K in debt (car/student loans) plus the mortgage. I have already managed to clear storecards, credit cards etc.

  • Hi Marie - everyone who is a member of this forum was a newbie once. Folks who are much more experienced than me will give you all kinds of advice, so I'll leave that to them. There are some brilliant people on this forum who are really helpful. The fact you have no credit cards or store cards debt is a great start -well done - so you are already further ahead than many who look to these threads for help.

    Good luck!

  • Not really sure if I can fill out a full SOA as I don't pay all the bills. Due to my bad credit history in the past, my OH and I don't have a joint account so the bills that I pay come out of my account and the bills he pays come out of his. Do you know if I can miss out the relevant bits or is there another way to do this?

You could try filling out a SOA purely based on where your money goes. Leave blank any bills your OH half pays. It will help you see where your money is spent, whether you can make any savings and how your debt can be paid off.

Can you and your OH not fill it out together? Include both your incomes, both outgoings and any debts/savings?

Only filling in part of it seems pretty pointless to me.
