Please recommend a Merlot wine

Hi, not being a red wine person I know nothing about Merlot but need to buy someone a bottle or two as a thank you for doing me a huge favour.

I do know his preferred wine is Merlot, so would appreciate recommendations as to what is a 'good' one, which would be acceptable to someone who knows their wine, and something that I can get quite easily.
