Going BR on 4th April last panicky questions

The 4th April is looming just some simple and maybe stupid questions

My total income is benefits I am worried about an IPA.

My bank accounts are Barclays Basic Acct and Coop Cashminder . Coop act was opened in 2008 before recent changes. Barclays acct in Jan 2013. I know I will lose the Internet banking part of my Barclays.

Do you know if they will freeze these accts?

My EDF elec Acct has £130 credit on it, this was my Warm Home Discount payment will the OR be able to claim this? The acct is up to date.

Does taking to National Debtline and StepChange who recommended BR be considered enough as legal advice?

Do you have to claim help with court fees before your BR date or on the day?

I need to go BR quickly and am using the very last of my savings to do this....

I cannot get an appt with CAB or anyone before my BR to check my BR petition any ideas ? I don't want to find that I pay the fees then get turned down...or anything goes wrong.

Excuse the panic I'm doing my head in over this, I know it's going to be ok but am panicking well actually not sleeping, my stomachs going up and down and now there's a Bank Holiday in between my BR dates no one can help me..CAB offered me an appointment in 5 weeks despite me emphasising my BR Date is the .4th April.....I don't want to miss this BR date

I just wish it was the afternoon of the 4th the total realisation of my situation is sinking in and the help so far away but within my grasp....time for a calming cuppa and some talking to my friend who must be fed up of me and my panicking over this BR.

With no income apart from benefits, you can't have an IPA.

Both should be OK. Barclays 100%. Coop, not so certain, but should be fine.
My EDF elec Acct has £130 credit on it, this was my Warm Home Discount payment will the OR be able to claim this? The acct is up to date.

No. To the best of my knowledge they cannot.
Does taking to National Debtline and StepChange who recommended BR be considered enough as legal advice?

Yes, if that is all you can do.
Do you have to claim help with court fees before your BR date or on the day?

Usually on the day taking in the forms and proof. If that is going to be some trouble, then ring the court to discuss what you can do ASAP.

If you have specific questions, you can ask here. Or is there anytwhere like CAP locally that you can see?

  • Thank you Fermi

I will ring court when it opens re the fees exemption.

Local CAB offices are over run with folk panicking about Bedroom Tax etc. What has this bloody government unleashed..

I'm going to be so relieved after this is all over, I don't panic normally but this has got my knees knocking, the closer it gets the more I'm magnifying it out of all proportion, time to get a grip..:(

It is not surprising you are in a tizz, you won't be the first and ou won't be the last. A wise poster once said on here that the process was like a roller coaster on the emotions, there will be some highs and some extreme lows and all sorts in between and it is true. Take each hour as it comes and keep posting. There are people who understand the feelings you are going through and will be able to reassure you.
