Should I change bank account and get a credit card after being discharged

Hi all,
I have a coop bank account which I opened when I became bankrupt. I am due to be discharged in a couple of days and was wondering if there is any real benefit to opening a new bank account at all?
Also, would it make sense to try to get a credit card soon after being discharged so I can begin to build a better credit rating (NOT to get into debt just to use and pay off each month by direct debit - I have had enough of being in debt wont happen again!!!!)
Thanks in advance,
Duncan

Why would you want to change banks? You would still be only able to open a basic account at the moment. I got a Vanquis CC a couple of months after discharge, but to be honest while your BR is on your CRF your credit rating means very little.:pB&SC No. 298

Thank you for your reply (how quick are people on here!?)
I can't see much need to change bank accounts myself to be honest but it just crossed my mind so I thought I would ask!
I need to go through the clean up process now but just thought if I got a cc then I am making plans for the future...showing a few years of regular payment can't do any harm when the BR comes off my file.
Was there anything else you did which you felt was worth it when you were discharged?

Totally agree with the above:) Wait a couple of months then do your credit file clean up, this is what I did, there was nothing else that I needed to do.:pB&SC No. 298

Thank you again, a new era of my life is due to begin which - even taking into account the heartache of the last few years - will be better after going through all this. I am not sure why I was so relaxed and downright stupid when it came to money before but its better to learn late than never!
