Help with working out a FTE Please?

Evening good board helpers

I was wondering if someone could help me out with a calculation for a friend. She started work in September but only just applied to join the pension scheme. This has her FTE on this and I think it is too low, she does not wish to rock the boat, nor appear stupid, so any pointers before she approaches HR would be appreciated.

Full Time is 37 hours per week
She works 22 (3 days) per week but over 36 weeks per year.

She is entitled to 30 days annual leave if full time.
She is entitled to Bank Holidays on a Pro Rata Basis
She is entitled to up to 5 Close Down days on a Pro Rata Basis. They have only used 4 days for the last 5 years, but each year including this one have used 4 days.

Her pension states she works 17.25 hours a week for pensionable pay and this is what they are using as her FTE. 17.25 out of 37.

Can anyone advise as myself and any form of numbers do not mix and I sadly use my fingers to add up still (embarrassing I know) but it looks too low for me.

Kind Regards in advance to those who take the time to assist with such a trivial matter however this could mean a few extra pounds per annum if I am correct.

Ok I will give it a go.

Full timers(asume 5 days) get 30+8+4 so 42 extra days.
Full timer work 52-(42/5) 43.6 weeks with 8.4 weeks holidays

    prorata is 42 * ( 36/43.6 ) * (3/5)= 20.8 days
    or in weeks 8.4 * ( 36/43.6) = 6.9

lets round to 7 weeks/21 days

so they get paid for 43 weeks at 22hrs so aver age over 52 weeks is 18.2

ask them for the calculation they use,

    reverse in the calcs.

    17.25 is 897 over 52 so 40.77 weeks @ 22hr so 4.77 weeks holiday

22/37 of 8.4 is 4.5 weeks so getting close.

but still not clear going to have to ask

I'd do it a different way.

Full time is 37 hours per week over 52 weeks in the year:

    37*52 = 1924 hours

Part time is 22 hours per week over 36 weeks in the year:

    22*36 = 792

So the part time element is:

    792/1924 = 0.41 FTE

0.41 FTE of full time 37 hours:

    37*0.41 = 15.17 hours per week

So that's a different answer to both the employer's and gm4l's calculations. The thing we don't know is whether the holiday entitlement is taken during the 36 weeks that are worked or paid for in addition to the time worked - if it's the latter then that may increase the number of hours on which the calculations are based.

Thanks I forgot this point if some or all of the holiday are taken during the working weeks that will change things.

Also need to know the actual holidays allocated, the cacluation used may be different to the correct way to do it.

My calc is prorata with holiays paid on top.
The above asumes they are all taken in the work period.
