presume, this means before you let them swipe any of your goods, not at the end.or, before you start your shopping?

You present them before they start scanning your shopping. It's so they can manually discount the product for the vouchers with the % off when they scan them.

Are you allowed to print these off the electronic version of the magazine or do you have to physically have a paper copy of the magazine from an asda store?

yes you can print them but it's not guaranteed that the trouts in store will accept them :-/
