Wonga not acknowledging receipt of payment
Options
Hi there,
Several weeks ago-27th of Feb to be exact- I made a payment to Wonga in order to pay the balance of my account. This was over £560 and I was paying my loan off 2 weeks early. I made this payment by online bank transfer. However, since then no payment has shown on my account and it has continued to accrue interest. I have rang Wonga at least 10 times since and have e mailed screen shots of my account showing the transfer twice. In spite of this they have yet to acknowledge my payment and every time I have spoken to them they have fobbed me off by saying that they will e-mail the relevant department. They have also recently taken my last £10 out of my bank.
It's starting to become a real concern. Does anybody have any advice on where I stand legally and how best to proceed to resolve this?
Many thanks
Dave

Sadly it is a case of just not using "pay day" loan companies.
I realise the advise is too late for yourself as you now find yourself in this position, but for others - avoid at all costs, sadly.
Hope you get something sorted.0 -
Have you checked that your payment had the correct reference on it? If it didn't the money could be sitting in a suspense account somewhere.
If it did then you now need to follow the correct complaints procedure.
Put a formal complaint in writing to them recorded delivery - don't bother with emails or phone calls. In addition to the complaint, tell them that you are withdrawing their right to use the CPA to debit any more money from your account. Also advise your bank of the same thing and that the payments taken since you paid the £560 are fraudulent.
They now have 8 weeks to resolve the complaint and if they don't, you can then refer the matter to the FOS.0 -
Why did you not pay it off via the option on your account page? This would be linked to your registered debit card.
It sounds like they have not allocated the payment to your account yet.
Did you agree an online transfer as a payment method with them?0 -
As gb12345 said.
Also, cancel the continuous payment authority with y our bank. They must do this, even if they say they can't.
Do this in branch/phone then follow up in writing to the bank. Otherwise, they are likely to take more cash when available.:beer:0
