So total payment per month £1280.85
Salary per month £1200.00
What i have done in past two weeks due to hereing martin on radio 2
i) Barclays claiming back bank charges £1080 possible.
ii)reduce mortgage payments from £517.00 to £417.00
iii)taken ppi off loan saving £25.50 per it was £180.00 per month
iv) Might be able to claim some charges back from an old royal bank of scotland account but not banking on it.
Credit rating fair according to credit expert what that means i have no idea what so ever.
But have applied for two loans which i got turned down for this is when i had my lightbulb moment. So a bit reluctant to go again and ask for credit. Have asked all three cc for reduction in rate all said no and virgin put the rate up from£15.9 to 21.9 which was nice of them.
Ok so questions
i) is it possible to get nicotine patches on the nhs free. (As i do have a rather sexy doctor so don't mind going to see her shame she married)
ii) any cc who will give me 0%??
iii) is there anything i am missing??? bar the smoking

It is possible to get nicotine patches on prescription.
Not quite free, if you pay for your prescriptions. Is it better to aim for the stars and hit a tree or aim for a tree and land in its branches :think:Loves being a Wonderbra friend :kisses3:

Nicotine patches are available on NHS. They can also give you the gum. I went to the "Im Jo and Im a smoker" groups and it was stupid and didnt help (but then again, this may work for some people) i went to the doctors and told her and she just prescribed me patches which I get free because I get tax credits! Hope thats been useful!

Yes, you can get nicotine patches and gum on the NHS. You can also get medication to help you stop smoking, there are a couple of types available. Your lovely GP will be very pleased to discuss these with you
The practice will probably have a smoking cessation clinic too. You'll find loads of people trying to give up now, as the 'public places smoking ban' comes into force soon.
Good luck! I'm sure you won't regret it

Hi there
Apart from the smoking, I dont see anything else you can cut down on.
Maybe consider entering a debt management plan? have a look at the CCCS or Payplan websites for advice on this. This will trash your credit rating, but you will probably get interest and charges frozen on most or all accounts and therefore manage to pay them off more quickly. Good luck, especially with the stopping smoking.
My OH has not smoked for 12 days now after consulting his GP & being prescribed "Champix". This is after over 30 years as a smoker. Im hoping that this is it for him!

In which case you have to increase your incomings somehow. Can you get a second job? Ebay everything that isn't nailed down, get car booting. Go mystery shopping?
It seems that your income is some way short of your current outgoings and cutting out smoking is not going to solve the problem although it will go some way towards it obviously.
I reckon a second job might be what you need right now. Hard work, but worth it.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
yep was going to start looking and might even rent a room. One step at a time.0

Have a look at http://www.whatsthecost.com/
You can put in all your credit details and work out which to concentrate on to get them paid off quicker.
One thing which will save a lot in interest charges is to not reduce your CC payments as the minimum goes down, just keep paying the same.

Also, have you addressed your reasons for spending all of that money? Even if you work at cutting back some things and moving around others, etc, if you haven't cut up the cards and absolutely addressed your spending issues, then you will not make the progress you need.
Def use the snowball calculator at https://www.whatsthecost.com - it is a really good motivator IMHO.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
