in Cutting tax
Hi,
I was sacked from my job in October and since that date I have been claiming JSA. After plenty of arguments with them regarding me searching for jobs I stioped turning up and have just recently got my p45 from them. Im just wondering now who I would need to contact about reclaiming my tax as if I was still on JSA ive read that they would have sorted it out. I cant use my new employer as im going self employed now.
Cheers in advance

If you were on a normal tax code at your last job and handed your p45 in to DWP then DWP will automatically make any tax repayment due to when you signed off JSA. If you start self employment in this tax year any extra refund that could be due will be dealt with when you submit your tax return.
If you are starting self employment after 05/04/2012 you can usually claim any additional refund by writing to the tax office and giving them your employment details for the full tax year briefly explaining what you were doing in any gaps where you werent working or claiming JSA0
