I went bankrupt as you guys know on 4th April and after having a chat with the OR was informed i would not have to pay anything to creditors. Hurrah!!!
I was told I could not have a landline which I had already anticipated and before going bankrupt and straight after my last payment to talk talk I asked them to issue me with a form for transfer of ownership.
Then a month later they phone saying the bill hasn't been paid but refuse to speak to my husband who should now be the owner.
They demand to speak to me and put a hold on the phone so we can only get incoming calls.
After 4 days i finally get through to them and they say we are not a residential line but a london business line. Unlikely as we have a Maidenhead exchange no. They refuse to listen to me insisting I am a business.
They say they have now transferred the bill onto Moorfield or whatever the collection agency is for non payment of the debt.
For gods sake.

I've got a BT landline, with broadband, and this was totally unaffected by my bankruptcy.
I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

Me too. Must be some hidden agenda. May have to pay an upfront deposit or did they scrap that years ago?BR 18 Oct 2006 Discharged 16 April 2007 :T0

I'm surprised by this too. The phoneline issue didn't even come up with me. I don't see why it matters unless BT were one of your creditors.BSC #53 - "Never mistake activity for achievement."

Same with me. Still have phone-line and mobile phone contract, as I owed them nothing. Didn't even mention it to them as I didn't think it was an issue...BCSC Member 70:j

BT do a credit check before supplying you with a service. If you fail it, you're usually offered the option of paying a deposit. Depends on how dire your situation was pre-banking.0
