13.5.07 what small dfw thing will you do/have you done today?

Hello lovely DFWers!!

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free.

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging the washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important:

Today I will/have

- not be going out so having a NSD
- have a casserole cooking in the slow-cooker (all from freezer and storecupboard)
- packing up ebay stuff for those things ending today

Have a good day everyone x

Morning all! I seem to have sat at my computer the whole morning, and some of it has been dfw:
    - organised my clicks and surveys and whatnot.
    - filled in an online form to get quotes from 3 local structural engineers to look at some problems I might have with the house.
    - saw a post from Dithering Dad on the mfw forum, and thought, hang on, he's found a quote thats less than my quote from the Nationwide. So I'm in the middle of a quote from them, and now I'm stuck - it has to be done by the end of May. Ah well.
    - um, I can't think of anything else! Luckily, I'm going to a friend's house tonight, got a lift, have bought the wine, all is well!

I've sold my car! DH's aunty has been on the lookout for a car for a while and when we mentioned we were going down to 1 car, she was very keen! It's on HP and has monthly repayments of £170! The 3 years is nearly up so I asked the company for a quote and they told me the price and it was a very good deal! So she's agreed to buy it, and we do the deal next week! That will save us so much money in petrol and the monthly payment, plus we're being a bit better for the environment!

Have also been sorting things out for a 'village sale trail' - a sort of car boot sale in your own driveway! That's next Sunday, so I hope the weather's better than today!

Washing dried on line - just brought it in as it started to rain, but it's all dry :)
Tea out of freezer and garden :)
Not venturing out, so no spending today :)
Got my ham out of the freezer for making packed lunches - I got very lazy about making them last week and it cost me £8 that I could have saved :o

dDdn't get weekly shop done yesterday, and as it's so wet today I've not been again, thus deferring spending! Even better, have delved into depths of freezer (bbrrrh!) and have found three main meals I'd frozen a few weeks ago and forgotten. Not sure how much I've actually saved, but when I do eventually do that shop it's going to be small!
(Please overlook the fact that the tumble drier has been on.......)

Am just about to go out shopping so reading this is hopefully ramming it home that lots of small actions add up to big savings eventually - any excuse and I buy something for somebody - that'll do for ........- has been my mantra whereas I now have to go round repeating 'what little dfw thing have you done today?

am getting bus passes for myself and son as I am on a course all week so will be in same place every day. Usually spend 40 pound a week on petrol. Will be good from keep fit aspect too. also teenage son will not be tempted to 'jump the train' and so not risk a 20 pound fine whenever he feels like visiting the girlfriend and has no money on him.

packed lunch for teenage son - I am hoping to be fed on course.

Had frozen some left over shepherds pie last week - enough for one. Did not stock up on snacks this weekend so human waste disposal expert (aka teenage son) has had shepherds pie to keep him going.
