SOA Advice Needed please

My wife and I will both be filing for bankruptcy soon and were hoping someone might advise on the SOA below. Between us we have unsecured debt of around £47,000 and no assets. Any questions please ask and I will answer as soon as I can, other commitments may mean there's a delay in answering for which I apologise in advance. Please be gentle with me as I'm fragile right now. I'm not looking for judgement, merely for help and advice, so please play nice. Thanks for any help.

All my friends and neighbours helped me pack and move for free, at first I was happy until I got told no one liked me and they just wanted to make sure I left. Thanks Mum and Dad.

The only thing I'd do is put the TV bill together with the internet and put the whole figure under the telephone @ £60 a month. It's all one bill isn't it? For the best deal it should be. No need to break it down into it's component parts.

You'll have to explain the petrol @ £110 with no allowance for tax, MOT or insurance.

Some of the figures are a little high but you can only try.

You get a lot of benefits for having no children. Is that right?

    Hi Smokey Joe,

If you and your wife's only income is from state benefits then you will not get an IPA so the figures on your SOA won't be looked at by the OR.

I'm assuming that your query relates to the allowances to be agreed with the OR when determining whether an IPA is payable or not? If you are looking for advice on cutting your costs I'm sure others will be able to advise on that but as I say if your only income is benefits no IPA will be set up unless you gain employment prior to discharge.

    Best of luck

Could you explain the travel & petrol costs, it looks odd because you have no MOT, tax etc down.

I suspect that the op has put council tax benefit and housing benefit in the income section, so has counted them in the outgoings.

  • It's possible the OP has included in his income his HB and CT and then shown them as deductions on his/her SOA. OP and partner may have disability payments or disability pensions like forces, (we don't know) so it might be worth stopping the debate on benefits as it was me who referred op to here from the DFW board.

I know benefits are a touchy subject, but we are all here to advise not judge.

Exactly, to many assumptions and not enough information. In turn may have completely scared off OP.
