    5kg potatoes for £2.38
A block of value cheddar for £4.37
2kg Clover for £6.00 so I can use it for baking too, I may see how much the value butter is instead
    15 eggs £1.34
    1 bag rabbit food £2.39
    8lt cat litter £2.69
2kg Go cat kitten £4.20 this will last 3-4 weeks

So that's £20.98 so far all ready and I need about £6 for the market and £6 for the rest of the rabbit bits and I haven't even started on meals yet.

I really would change that quite a lot.

You have loads of pasta, loads of rince, risotto rice, small potatoes, oven chips and roast poatoes and flour to make dumplings. Yorkshires and pancakes already. Save that money

    Stork margarine might be cheaper?

I undestand your pets need food, but head over to the pet sub-forum and see is anyone knows of cheaper options.

  • At a glance, if it was me i would buy a bag of onions, 3 tins of tomatoes, a lettuce, another bag of mixed veg and a big pack of mince and make the following main meals:

chilli - kidney beans, tomatoes, rice, onions, oats, herbs and spices
chicken + veg soup - frozen veg, onion, chicken breast, herbs
bbq pork wrap + rice - 3 wraps, pork, lettuce, rice with sweetcorn and peas
    fishcakes/fish + chips + mushy peas
sausage and veg - sausage, yorkshire, mixed veg, gravy
chicken and mushroom pie + parsnips and sweetcorn and peas
bbq chicken wraps - 3 wraps, lettuce, rice with mixed veg
    beans on toast
    beans and sausage on toast
fish pie with mixed veg - fish fillets , potatoes, milk, flour, herbs
chick pea and mixed veg curry - chick peas, mixed veg, onions, spices, tomatoes
spag bol - pasta, tomatoes, onions, herbs, oats

(Use the oats to bulk out the mince)

Due to Ds1's 16th Birthday and my car breaking down this month I am really skint. I need to make this food last as long as possible. I have £30 to spend to add to it and I need to spend wisely.

I can't think of anything but 2 meals so I need some help. I know you're all fantastic at this sort of thing.

This is all the food I have in the house and I will need cat food, rabbit food, sawdust, hay and cat litter to add to my shopping list too.

    Stock cubes
    gravy granules
    1 egg
1/2 pk lard (which looks mockingly at me for not being able to make pastry)
    2 onions
    1/2 swede
    Loads of pasta
    Loads or rice
    1/2 pk risotto rice
    Flour all types including bread
    Yeast
    A billion herbs and spices
    Cocoa powder
    10 small potatoes
    2 tins of sweetcorn
    1 tin of chickpeas
    1 tin of kidney beans
    1 tin of mushy peas
2 tins of beans & sausage
    1 tin spaghetti
2 tins beans (thought these could be lunches on toast)
    Veg oil
    1 loaf of bread
    2 apples
    1/2 bag oven chips
    1 battered cod fillet
    1 pk frozen mixed veg
    1 pk frozen roast potatoes
    4 bread rolls
    2 mini baguettes
6 sausages - cut in half and make toad in the hole, serve with some frozen veg - no need for pots
    1 chicken & mushroom pie
    3/4 bag frozen peas
    3/4 bag frozen carrots
    Pk glazed parsnips
    4 Yorkshire puds
    3 fish fillets
    6 wraps
1/2 pk diced beef - make a stew with some of the veg and make dumplings to go with it
    2 fishcakes
    1 chicken breast
    1 pk BBQ chicken
    1 pk BBQ pork
    Weetabix
    Oats
    Little bit of milk

This has to feed 3 for all 3 meals because it's the easter holidays. I'm going to shop online I think because the petrol/delivey fee will be about the same. There's a market tomorrow that does really cheap fruit and veg so I will get that there.

So far I can think of fish pie and sausage, chips and beans.

get a box of eggs and make a fritata with some of the veg, spice it up with herbs and spices, serve with bread rolls or chips

with the pasta or rice, veggies and the chicken breast, make a savoury pasta, tin toms, 1 onion, 1/2 tea spoon chilli flakes, simmer til thick, add chicken, veggies, pasta/rice serve

If you have a poundworld near you they do cat litter for a quid and its the eco pellets stuff, Ive paid more than double the price in Asda and Tesco.

I know some cats can be fussy, but I feed my cats on dried food, not tinned, have done so for a couple of years, when funds dont stretch to indoor cat, I buy Aldi cat food, its 95p for 950g which isnt too bad at all.

Mine dont jump up and down for joy when its on their plates but they eat it.

I also buy from approved foods quite regularly, maybe worth taking a look on that site.

Thanks so much, it's been amazing to have fresh ideas where I couldn't see the wood for the trees.

I have 14 meals and it comes to £34.67, i'll still need to go to the market for fruit and veg and get the rest of the rabbits things and that should come to £12. So £49.67 all together with delivery. For 2 weeks food for 3 that isn't bad at all. If I juggle things around it should be doable especially if I won't need to go shopping next week either. I'm going to bake like mad so we don't feel too deprived.

    I have

    1 Fish Pie
    2 & 3 Home made pizza & wedges
4 BBQ chicken & egg fried rice
    5 Toad in the hole
6 Jacket potato with beans and cheese
    7 Roast chicken, pots, veg
8 Chicken, veg & chickpea curry
    9 Chilli & rice
    10 Spag bol
    11 Ham, egg & chips
    12 Beef stew & dumplings
13 Chicken & veg pie, mash & gravy
    14 Chicken pasta

Not in that order but that's the jist of it.

Have some frozen peas with the fish and we can turn the tin of mushy peas into a meal on it's own.

Add 250ml of water and a stock cube (ideally veg', but chicken would do) and you've got a bowl of pea soup. While it's simmering, mash them up to the desired consistency.
If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5? :)

If you can access an Asda a IKG tub of I can't believe it's not butter /or I can't believe it's not butter light are £1.50 at the mo; which would save £4.50 for this month on the Clover.
