PC world / Rentsmart

Hellooooo,
Right long story short I got a laptop from pc world on the infinity deal, last week received a letter giving me three options... 1, take the laptop back 2, get a new laptop receive 25% back cashback 3, contine to pay at half price.
Problem is I was under the impression that after my 24 months I made one final payment and boom laptop was mine... This doesn't seem to be the case!!
I understand now that the infinity deal was a legal con to be honest but I was young and foolish.
Now, any ideas who I am contacting to argue my case? PC world for mis-selling? Or knowhow? Or rentsmart?
Seriously confused.
Thanks

You do have some paperwork, don't you?
The name 'Rentsmart' doesn't give any indication that your impression was correct. Their website is very clear:What happens at the end of my SmartPlan agreement?
At the end of your rental plan, you can simply choose to update to the latest technology, continue renting the equipment you have, return the equipment or have the option to buy it at "market value". ++ RentSmart is under no obligation to sell the equipment to you.0 -
I've got to ask-how much have you shelled out in total over the 2 years so far?
If you didn't read the contract, on what basis were you allegedly mis-sold the deal?No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Don't think that there is anything wrong with the deal itself if that it what you want.
But long term it is not a very cost effective way of buying. Can not see how you would have grounds for a miss sell and think it would be hard to proof a case if all the paperwork shows otherwise.Happiness, Health and Wealth in that order please!:A0 -
I'm not with the smartplan it's infinity knowhow, unfortunately I've lost the damn paperwork in a house move, but I was younger back then and not as aware of paperwork and credit etc... I may have to put it down to a life lesson I guess, just wondered if anyone else had similar experience with them, oh and I didn't know it was rentsmart I was paying, I didn't see this until I looked at direct debits a few month later. (I was stupid with my money)0

Have a read through this older thread.

I have been quite active on this and have been successful in claiming back a refund from PC World for their miss-selling practices. There are loads of people on this thread who have also been told the same lies by the PCW reps0 -
I've come to the conclusion I'm gonna return it, back up everything I need to an external hard drive and return it! Any ideas how I return the machine ? PC world directly or via some other method? I would call them but I'm at work and sending this from my iphone and cannot be bothered with a long phone call while I am at work.
Cheers0 -
Im a long time browser of money saving but i have joined today as i have also been scammed by the infinity deal!
We bought an ipad two years ago, we had wanted to pay £50 a month over six or so months to buy one, but got talked into a bigger ipad, with insurance for £40 per month over two years.
As we were getting the bigger ipad and insurance etc we thought this was a good deal... We were told by the salesman that after the two years we had the option to pay a final payment, which would be similar to a months payment to own the ipad outright, or we could upgrade and continue the with infinity.
Our time is now up and after speaking with a custmer advisor we have told there is no such option to own the ipad outright! I am furious! I am in the process of emailling pc world, as i beleive i have been mis sold this product... And after a google search i can see there are many more in the same boat. If i get no where i will be emailling watchdog.
If anyone has any advice on getting anywhere please advise.
