Westin Gourmet.....and online meat ordering.

Found this thread looking for info about Westin Gourmet for a Christmas order.
Doesn't look too promising, from what I've read so far - is the quality of their meat just average supermarket quality? Tesco quality, perhaps, rather than Waitrose quality (a world of difference)?0 -
WG have the odd good offer but on the whole most of the "bargains" are based on ridiculous RRP which they then discount to make an offer
Right now they would have you believe that 454g of average smoked salmon has an RRP of £38 and that the £15.19 they want for it as an offer is worth it!
They do the same with the crappy little French Chickens and other meat
Still worth getting the updates as there are some bargains to had now and again. The Wagyu burgers are nice but you will need to wait until they discount them.
Never had a single delivery issue and the meat has always been pretty good, just a shame there is so much rubbish around the RRP or I would order more stuff0 -
MuscleFood are really good and customer service always put issues right. Also offer a big range0

Has an order from them yesterday, was a good deal 8 Hache steaks and 8 burgers for £1.25 each with a 454g pack of smoked salmon free.
They ended up sending me 2 lots of smoked salmon so the deal was even better!
I looked the up supplier of the salmon and you can buy the same pack from them for £14.95
On the WG site they list it for £24.95 reduced from £41.99!!
They abuse the RRP rules all the time to make their offers look like bargains, there are some good deals to be had but always worth comparing the type and weight of meat they offer with the supermarket sites first.0 -

They are good but very expensive, a good local butcher is cheaper and the meat as good if not better.
Sadly these shops are thinner on the ground these days.
You might want to try Farmison they are every bit as good (and pricy) as Donald Russell but offer different breeds of animals for cuts of meat like steak. If you keep an eye out they do offers, I got £30 off my first order over £50 and blew the lot on nice racks of lamb which were really good.0 -
Has a small issues with WG with an order that I used Pay Pal for. They said that the money didn't go through but Pay Pal was showing me it had.
As you might know WG have removed their telephone support and do it all via email that takes a good day to get responses and in my case they were not refunding the money quickly enough.
When I looked at the Pay Pal transaction it showed me that WG and Muscle Foods are part of a bigger company call DB Foods in Poole, there was a contact number for DB foods as well. I called them and at first they were a bit evasive that they were anything to do with WG, but soon came around when I told then what was in the Pay Pal details, they sorted my refund out quickly.
So if you have issues you can call DB Foods on 01202 238238 and push them to sort out WG issues faster.0
