No new credit between application and completion!

That's current accounts, cards, loans, nothing.

I remembered now that even applications for a savings accounts record an entry in your credit report with something like 'identity check' or 'money laundering'.

We ended up not opening the current bank account, just in case, but if looking for a house can take a pretty long time, you are pretty limited in your options :(

Thinking about the end of the tax year now, could opening an account that is not associated with credit, such as an stocks and shares ISA, affect your application?

Identity and address checks are not visible to others, only to you. They will not impact a mortgage application as they are not credit searches.
