I have a rust coloured Barbour jacket that I got in a sale about 20 years ago.
I don't mind it being faded and scruffy, but now the sealed seams are splitting.
It looks as though the sewn seams are pressed open and then sealed from the inside to the jacket fabric (guessing as can't see because of lining) and now the outer fabric is tearing open where the seam fabric edge meets the main garment.
Easy when you see it but no camera!
Anyway, does anyone know if there is something which could be attached over the seams, about half and inch to an inch wide, to cover both the seam and the splitting?
Its the sleeve seems which are the worst although the arm holes are now going too.
If repairs could be done then I could rewaterproof afterwards.

If you turn the jacket inside out, there is usually a top stitched seam along one of the sleeve linings. Undo this to gain access to the inside of the jacket by turning through. Repair seams as necessary then resew sleeve lining seam.

Thank you but sadly not on my jacket plus all the stitching is still intact0 -
There is something called tenacious tape which I've used to create a waterproof repair on my tent and as the name suggests its a tough cookie! Go outdoors sell it for less than a fiver if I remember rightly. Oh and it's clear so good to use on any colour. Also if you unpick the lining in the sleeve slightly you can stick it on the inside of the outer fabric for a near invisible repair. Hope that helps xGrocery challenge June 2016
