Only for the first 10,000 miles, after that it's only 25p per mile.
I believe the self employed can use this method but if they do they pay for ALL vehicle expenses. On a van costing £2500 the repairs may be quite a lot and there would be no tax relief for them.
The only thing that is constant is change.

No, the 45p per mile etc is for EMPLOYEES
Self employed people claim whatever cost is related to the business

Normally you cannot claim fill cost of car, depending on co2 emissions may e 20% allowance per year.
However a van is different, so you can claim 100% of the cost in year 1.

    In 2012/13 cars:-
    Under 110 g/km First year allowance 100%
    111 - 160 g/km Annual allowance 18% pa
    over 160 g/km Annual allowance 8% pa
The only thing that is constant is change.
