How do I remove black circles from wooden chopping board?

I have a lovely wooden chopping board but people seemed to have put hot mugs or something down on it and there are black circles in the wood. I have gtried scrubbing them but nothing happens.

Any suggestions on how I can restore the board?

Thanks

  • You'd probably have to sand them out. Or live with them. They add character.

could try bleaching with lemon juice and then giving a really good scrub and then restoring wood with a little veg oil

I too wopuld have said sand them with a fine sandpaper and go with the grain when doing it.One of my hobbies is restoring old stuff to look a bit better ,the sort of stuff folk normally chuck out or fill up the tip with I have spent many a happy hour sanding down an old bit of furniture and bringing it back to life with a bit of TLC, but there again I hate the thought of binning something that could be used somewhere else
