Cost of Mobile - Allowable Expense?

Morning,

Quick question I am unable to find the answer to elsewhere.

Currently letting my old house and off-setting my monthly mobile costs against the tax. Needing a new phone - my question is - is the cost of the handset considered to be an allowable expense?

    Never mind the new mobile, are the costs you are currently claiming even an allowable expenses?

    I wouldn't have thought so but the business related calls you make on it would be if they are shown separately on your bill. They are usually shown as costing 0.00p so you can claim that much.

    :p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

    It's a maybe. If this phone is only used for business purposes then yes go ahead and claim it. I would only do that if you also had another phone for personal use.
