Can an employer make you take a sick day for no reason?

I'm not going to go into depth about the serious mess ups that my company has been up to, It'll take the whole day.
But I'm curious, I received my rota via email yesterday, my rota is done weekly, it has bookings on the days where I work and their times. On monday however, the booking states "sickness"
Now I haven't talked to anyone about taking sick leave at all, and I certainly am not sick, as I am down to work both today and tomorrow. I'm sure they don't have some sort of precognitive powers to know if I would call in sick on monday morning.
I just want to know if they can force me to accept this sick day off for no reason at all.
I've spoke to my manager about it, she hasn't been into the office and doesn't know why it would be like that.
I'm going to call her again soon, but I thought I should check here first before I write to the person who actually made this rota (i'm composing an email) to see if they are able to force this. (It is unpaid sick, as in my contact it states the first three days of sick leave are not paid)

Surely the most likely explanation is that you have been emailed someone else's rota by mistake or just a bog standard mistake. I know you say there is a history but I wouldn't get all uppity and just politely ask for a revised rota.0

I do think it's a possible mistake, but it was definitely sent to me. It has my name plastered all over it. I think it's possible that I could have been mistaken for another member of staff, the guy who does the rotas messes up something every week and I'm just exasperated.
thanks crimson, i'm going to make the point of my email to ask for a revised rota.Debt Starting: £1995 | Current Debt: £1105

Could it be your client is sick/not requiring a visit? (not that you will be paid or have any comeback of course!) but their "way" of letting you know officially?
Hats of to you for sticking with it x0 -
I have many regular clients, and they all but one require bookings atm, it's so regular to them that they expect me to turn up when I usually do (understandable) one lady said to me earlier "I'll see you Monday morning" and I had to explain that I wasn't sure if that was possible. They don't tell the clients who's doing their booking either, so I can't figure out what's going on, haven't been able to get hold of my manager or the office for the past twenty minuets, but I can only keep trying XD
Thanks! Yeah it's been difficult, but I'm actually very much enjoying that the clients get care in their own homes the way they want, though I am going for another job it is 'live in' carer instead, so I would have less clientel but more hours, better suited to someone like me who doesn't drive.Debt Starting: £1995 | Current Debt: £1105

I've written up a draft email, i'm not sure if it sounds ok though, any input would be awesome

Hi, (person)
I completely reject this as my rota for the following reasons:
I am not sick, I have not talked to anyone about taking sickness, and I in no way need to be not working on Monday 25th march.
I do not work Sundays, Sunday was taken off my schedule, and as you know, I rely on public transport - not having a car, as the buses do not run a service on Sunday 31st March, I can not do the calls stated, I would not be able to reach them.
The timing on those Sunday calls are contradictory client 1 and client 2 both require calls at 09:30 am.
The entire schedule does not make sense, On days where I am available to work, there is nothing booked, and yet I know there is a short of staff at the moment, this leads me to believe that a mistake has been made.
Because of the four reasons stated, I am inclined to believe there has been some sort of mistake, and that perhaps I have been mistaken for a different carer. this does not in anyway reflect my pattern of working, or my availability, so I can assume it is not meant for me. I humbly request a revised rota, or further input in regards to this.

Completely over the top and defensive. Calm it down:
"Hi person,
I think there has been a mistake on my rota. I am not off sick at the moment so should be scheduled to work on Monday. Also, as agreed with x, I should not be scheduled to work on Easter Sunday as I do not have access to transport.
If you could forward a revised rota that would be much appreciated.
Best wishes,
Me"0 -
Thank you, I was very worried about it coming across over the top. I certainly don't want to make enemies at work. That sounds much more suitable I think.
huge thanks to all you guys.Debt Starting: £1995 | Current Debt: £1105
