yep a bit rubbish in Belfast too. Only 6-9pm and i saw 8 posters from the door to the till saying only one cone per customer, that was in a space less than 10m long. Now don't get me wrong any freebie is better than none and I appreciate that Ben and Jerry's don't have to give us anything, it is just a gesture of appreciation.

However, it is falsely advertised and that is almost worst PR than not doing it at all. Really no point calling it a free cone day if it is really free cones for 3 specific hours and no point saying rejoin the queue to try a variety of flavours if it is strictly one cone per customer. Good idea badly executed.

I had planned a trip to cineworld today with my kids anyway. when I saw martins tweet yesterdy about free ice cream I did same as you thriftymanc went on the B&J's website to find out if my cineworld was to take part and sure enough my branch came up so I thought that meant it was participating.

We turned up at the B&J's counter in cineworld toady and mentioned free ice cream, SA didn't know anything about it explained its a free scoop etc and it's on website, SA called manager over who also didn't know anything about it so he went off to phone head office, was gone for an age but in the mean time another couple with a child had overheard me and they too told me they checked on website and came to same conclusion as me that this cineworld was participating, they also said the SA was very rude to them when they asked. :mad: Time was ticking by and our fims were about to start, Manager came back and said still cant find anything out he told us watch films and when we come out he would let us know and if it is the case will give us ice cream.:eek:

Came out of film and found Manager, he had printed off something from B&J's website saying 'cineworld Wolverhampton is not participating in free cone day' :mad:

Sorry that was bit long winded, but agree with thriftymanc, next year they need to make it cyrstal clear on website, so everyone knows which branches are taking part!!

Another unhappy customer, it was well advertised what day it was, I even managed to get to a participating branch, alas I was too early. Nowhere had I seen the 6-9pm time until I arrived and the person in front of me had also missed this detail and a poor child was very upset at leaving without ice cream! Shame I didn't find this particular thread to find the suggestion of a time frame before I went, I couldn't wait 3 hours till it started so left without.

It's been 6-9 pm for years turned up in the Odeon in Cardiff ten to six a little bit of a queue formed but not too bad managed to get free ice cream for the four of us quite nice for a freebie
