When Is An Offer Not An Offer... When its at Sainsbury's

By the look of it you went to https://www.sainsburyswine.co.uk and expected it to be the same stuff/prices as instore but this is never the case, same goes for Tesco Winestore these services sell wine by the case and prices and stocking can vary from the store. They may even be run by outside companies, the help line of the Sainsburys wine website is 0800 917 4092 only one digit away from one of the Oddbins phone numbers 0800 917 4093 so there maybe some connection. Sainsburys Flowers website will probably have different flowers and prices from the ones in store. Other supermarkets do the same I know ASDA electricals is run by Miller Bros and ASDA entertainment by The Hut.
If you want to know instore prices/offers you should go to the wine section of the store grocery home delivery website (https://www.sainsburystoyou.com in this case) to be sure - this is are the ones that are guaranteed to be run out of the store chain and the prices and offers are usually identical to instore unless you shop at a smaller stores ie. Sainsburys Express or Central stores.
I'm surprised you didn't check instore if this was the offer before buying as presumably there was no shelf label outlining the offer. I would be more annoyed with myself if I had left the store after having paid double the price instore if it was not 1/2 price.
The fact you have not quoted the usual 5% case discount on the £23.94 makes me believe you haven't checked the discounts on you receipt as that one should always appear I believe when you buy 6 bottles, there may even be an extra multibuy discount to get this down to the £19.89 price for all I know.0 -
When have Sainsubury's, or Tescos, or any other supermarket for that matter, ever said there online prices were the same as instore? I have always believed that some, specifically wine, were always lower online. If that is the case the store staff were acting correctly and naming them is a little unfair, unless you want us to congratulate them for doing their job properly next time we are in there!0

Didn't it cost more in petrol to drive back to the shop again than the money you would have got returned?0

No need to publish people's names, its the company you want to moan about, not the person.
Surely for the sake of £4, a 16 mile drive is a bit obsessive? I mean, fair enough if you'd left it and complained when you did your next grocery shopping but going out of your way to moan about £4... I shan't say what most people are thinking.
To ask for travel expenses... that's just blatant profiteering. You made the decision to go out of your way to drive back and complain, you can't expect sainsburys to pay for that. You should count yourself lucky because
a) the offer was a half price one, and by the sounds of it you never checked the price instore or at the till, when it could quite possibly have been at £40
and b) you got a £5 voucher when sainsbury's had done nothing wrong at all. Please don't pm me asking to eat me because you are hungry.

I feel he is quite justified in posting their names as not doing therir job properly.
By the sound of it they seemed helpful and did their jobs properly, Nadia refered the problem to the mangaer Julie and she checked the store prices and told him/her the price instore was £3.99.
Altough I too don't see what the fuss is about with the names it is a copy of an email and names of the people he spoke to are helpful and and I don't see the need to remove them in this forum.
Julie Smith is the name of the Sale store manager and it is on the Sainsburys website and she probably has a picture in store saying Julie Smith Store Manager and Nadia probably called Julie by announcing here name over the tannoy. If Nadia and Julie have any have reason to keep their names secret they probably would ask their employer if they can assume a different name when working there to go on badges etc.0 -

It was probably cheaper to buy the wine of the website in the first place including the offer he/she wanted and paid the delivery charge.0
