My partner has just received a letter with a figure that the OR wishes him to pay each month. We have a few questions relating to this if anyone can advise.
1. Does everybody have to make payments over 36 months?
2. How do you go about challenging the suggested figure?
3. On what grounds have people managed to lower the monthly payment? Has anyone got examples?
My partner hasn't signed anything yet and the letter says he has 14 days to respond.
Can anyone advise us please?

Hi,
You would be best posting your IPA figures on here for us to look at.

What figures do you need to know? The OR is asking for 850 a month....0
-
My first figure from the OR was £750 mth. With the help Debt Doctor I successfully challenged that and had it reduced to £445. I have just gone through a change of circumstances where my income reduced. I sent in the form and the OR sent back a new figure of £577. (Yes more)
Twice I sent it back pointing out errors in their calculations and have just agreed a new figure of £323
I can wholeheatedly recommend the help of Debt Doctor who assisted me with the challenge letters.
Good luck0 -
I got mine reduced by half by just writing a detailed letter to the OR explaining why I could not afford the original amount.
I provided as much evidence of my outgoings as I could (receipts, bills etc.)
It's always worth challenging the amount, as they will always try to get as much as they can, initially.0 -
Pop up your SoA with the figures that the OR has said you need for your outgoings. If he hasnt given you a breakdown of what he has allowed then email him and ask him for a breakdown, so you know exactly what you are working with.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0

crikey, just found an old email from my OR's rep, suggesting I 'work some overtime' to simply meet my SOA!
Those were the days? No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -

So the first port of call is to write to the OR asking for a breakdown of figures, as we haven't had this. Then we can go from there.
Thanks.0 -
I am just having my IPA reviewed, and they wrote to me asking me to pay an amount without telling me how they had calculated that amount? So I wrote back asking them for a breakdown on how it was calculated - they weren't very happy about that

Perhaps it was because I pointed out that the person dealing with my case had already made a fundamental error - she had claimed via e-mail that in November 2012 I had spent 91 on fuel, whereas the actual figure (as shown in the bank statements she had in front of her) was 360!0 -
This is your new financial start so that means you are doing all you can not to get yourself up the creek without a paddle again so you need to be proactive and have all the facts in front of you before making a decision, how can you agree to something if you don't have all the facts in front of you?BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0
