Purchased Sofas on credit but no money taken out my account

I recently purchased some sofas on credit and provided my bank details and signed all the paper work etc...

I was told the money would be paid over 24 months with the first payment taken out after delivery of the Sofas.

The sofas have been delivered (been over a month) but no money has been taken out as of yet.

Should I chase this up? Is it better for me to sit (comfortably may I add) and wait? Could the credit company ask me to increase the pace of my payments if/when they realise?

Thank you for reading!

Unless you want the potential hassle of dealing with their arrears department, debt collection agencies and possible defaults on your credit history then the simple thing would be to ring them up.

It might be as simple as the first 2 payments will be collected together or there could have been a problem with bank details being input incorrectly.

You're going to have to pay eventually, so better to be proactive and avoid yourself problems down the line.
  • did you have an expected delivery date?
think if you bought it through something like very/littlewoods and it came from dfs and dfs sorted the delivery then the payments may start a month after expected delivery date.
Had the same thing with a washing machine, came earlier than expected and payments started 6weeks or so later.

    Hello.

This happened to me about 6 years ago. I bought a sofa from a well known furniture showroom. They gave me 3 years credit with no interest to pay. The order was about £1000.

I got my welcome letter from GE MONEY and nothing was ever taken from my account!

I have never paid a penny to the order!

The chain that I bought it from has been taken over by Harveys since then.

    No wonder!!

Having said that - I think it was more GE MONEY that made the error rather than the showroom. They set up a Direct Debit on my account and sent me a store card thatI could use at Halfords and some other rubbish shop.

I love hearing stories like this - whenever I phoned GE to ask when payments would start - it was always somewhere in India you spoke to. Probably all the admin is dealt with there too.

Hope you get to keep it for free like I did!
