Discharged-loans still on file as owed BUT NO BR??!!

Hi everyone this is my first post.
I was BR in 2003 with 25K. Was dischargedged 2005. Decided to get my records. Got the first one today from Call Credit and it has an old Egg loan saying balance: 8k and Littlewoods for £200. It is as if they are still "live" and I still owe the money. I am freaking out now! Does this mean the Official Rec didnt sort these ones out or is it normal to have all your old stuff shown in this way? I thought the balance should be £0? It indicates that I am still missing payments. (Have moved several times so they wont have my address). Tried to call Egg but they wouldnt tell me anything. Also it says no record of insolvency WTH!!??
if anyone could help I would be very grateful.
Thanks xxx
Ps just found similar thread with help on first point, but dont know how to delete and repost! thanks for patience

What do you mean by ' live'?
By law they must be marked settled/satisfied, with the default date no later than your discharge date.
If the debts were included in your BR, then they were written off, and Egg is acting incorrectly.
See these two stickys about CRF's post BR on another forum.

If Egg are suggesting the debts were not written off, you should contact your old OR to clarify the legal position on them.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

As long as these debts were part of your bankruptcy then tell them you were bankrupt and send them copies of your bankruptcy order and discharge notice.
Asking them to correct your credit file.
Egg is a nightmare to fix as they just sell your debt onto other companies.0 -
Thanks mate, just seen your previous post too, sorry was bit hasty in posting. Live as in Balance owing. It's like reading a foreign language trying to decipher those reports!
My BR is still casting a dark cloud over my life. Been refused jobs because of it. How I laugh when friends thought it was an "easy" option!0 -
Arrgh just called Egg and they said I have to send Discharge notice. I cant believe I have been in the dark of it all this time! I cant afford £60 and the worst thing is that I was working at my local court until last year (but on divorce) so I am dreading contacting them as they will all know me! How embarrassing is that! I did want to see my file, but it was in another room and I certainly did not want to draw attention to it. Oh well will give them something to gossip about I guess. But it is still such a stigma!0

Rather than contact the court, you can contact your OR or ask that OR's office for a letter to confirm your discharge, & the letter should be free of charge. If you want the actual discharge certificate/notice, that costs the £60, but there's no legal requirement for you to have that, so a letter from the OR's office should be fine. Egg (or any other organisation) can't use the fact you haven't got the certificate/notice to deny you your right to a correct credit record. As long as you have an official letter confirming your discharge they have to accept it.
