Help Tax issue!!

Options
At the begining of this year a new company took over my work. They could not afford to pay us in January and instead paid us at the end of Febuary for both months. However there was no tax taken off. Having been without money since before Christmas that soon went.
I mentioned to them that they had not paid tax and they said they would look into it. It now appears they are going to take out January, Febuary and March's tax all in this months pay (which you can imagine isnt going to leave me with a great amount) Is this legal? obviously I would prefer they didnt so I wanted to check first.
Thanks in advance for any hep!

I think you should contact you local HMR office as soon as possible
as they will be the ones to best inform you of your rights and what you should be paying

The tax isn't their money, it is your money which is owed to HMRC (on behalf of the country) and they are required to deduct it and pay it over. This is especially true as March's payday is likely to be the last of the tax year and therefore your account should be right at that point.

If you feel it is their fault, you could ask them for a loan till the next payday but if they have some financial problems they may not be willing or able to do that. However, it must have been clear to you that you had received more than was due. Easy for me to say, I suppose, but you should have put the excess into a savings account and not spent it ahead of time.

If you managed to keep going throughout February without your January pay, can you not manage for another month (April) with not so much salary?

You should ask your HR Manager. They are the one who is responsible with what happen with your money. Tax issue are common to starting company. It is better you verified it.
