Just a little thought but what has been the fundamental change in society that seems to be based on boom/bust,debt and ever changing goal posts. When i was a kid in the 50s and 60s it was rare that you heard about debt or folk going bust.Somehow life seemed to go on without too much change.People raised their kids, went about their daily routines.Paid their rent{and didnt think about being kicked out because the dumb assed landlord was a buy to let waller}.Or maybe paid their mortgage that didn`t go and down like a yo yo!
Seems that we have replaced worthwhile role models with the likes of Gormless Jordan or Queen of the Chavs Jane Goody!
Politicians seem to get away with so much hypocritical behaviour, some are so shameless.
Hang on,I doing a right old rant here.Enough said----lol!
Oooops .Should have posted this un the discussion board!!!!!!!!!!

I agree ,its no wonder people are so stressed out ,things have changed dramatically even in the last 20 years ,and youve forgot to mention community spirit ,wheres that gone?.......
and as for the modern day icons , god help the next generation if thats all theyve got to aspire to.0 -
I agree. We are without a car at the moment and it seems the everyone is expecting us to "get a loan" or "get finance" to replace the car. When I say we don't want to do that everyone seems to look at us like we are mad, or like it serves us right that we can't find a second hand car within our budget.
Even those of the 50's generation have suggested a loan.
People just assume that because you work, you are able to get a loan or get finance, and that you want MORE DEBT!!!working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -

How right you are!See it in my own family, spend, spend, spend.like the earnings gravy train will go on forever. As I have said before on other posts,my little business was making a packet a couple of years ago.Must admit I did then have an eye on a Jag{paid for of course with cash}.Then thought, you have been in this place before, nothing lasts forever, best save the cash.Am I glad as like so many of my friends in business, there has been a dramatic down turn ove the last couple of years.
Now some have not been prudent, folling some good years one or two will have to sale their homes as they are having trouble paying the mortgage.Nothing is forever!0 -
Our budget is low, I am currently on a DMP and those suggesting finance to me don't know about that.
But it seems everyone expects to be able to buy exactly what they want with no compromise, if they don't have the money then they EXPECT to be able to get it via a bank.
Its a whole WANT-IT-NOW attitude and no-one seems to save up or wait for anything anymore.
They also EXPECT that as you have a good job you must have lots of money and the banks must be falling over themselves to give you credit. How wrong people can be.working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0
