Is there an ideal ratio of equity in your home to the amount of mortgage you have, or is it always better to be mortgage free? Would be grateful for any thoughts.

Well, for me personally I would love to be mortgage free and to pay much more into my pension plan, isa's and savings.
Once I am a pensioner I dont want to be lumbered with a mortgage.0
