Need a rant and a hug!

Hi everyone.

My wedding is in 2 days and it's forecast to snow!! heavily!! I'm actually ok with this as long as everyone can get up here, as let's face it it's much prettier than it raining, but I'm just so fed up of everyone else talking about it :(

I've already been in tears twice because family etc have been going on about how much of a shame it is and how cold everyone will be etc etc. All I keep thinking is BIGGER PICTURE?!?

So I just need a hug :( my OH is at work and I'm feeling so rubbish :(

Has anyone had a wedding where it snowed and can offer any advice...?

    HUGS!!!

A snowy wedding will be beautiful. I don't think the weather will be that bad anyway. I keep stressing about the weather and all everyone keeps saying to me is "on the day you won't even slightly notice the weather" so I will repeat that advice to you!

You will be fine and have an AMAZING day!!
  • Big hug on it's way :D

Don't worry..it may not snow and surely you guys are more important than the weather!!! We went to a winter wedding once and it was so magical and beautiful...we had a great time. People will have to put on vests etc to keep warm and guests will only be cool possibly while in church (if you having a church wedding) and for the short time while photographs are taken outside (no reason why photographs can't be taken inside if venue pretty emough?).

Get them up and dancing as soon as you can ..that will keep them jolly!!

Have fun and enjoy what is the most romantic day of your life.

Those that want to be there will make the extra effort to be there I am sure...it might take some people a little longer to travel and there may be a few that cant quite make it...but where there is a will there is a way as they say....

There was a bride on the form a couple of years go who suffered very badly with snow...and as a result on the day very few of her guests were able to turn up...although her groom did so they tied the knot and there was something that prevented everyone getting to her reception...so if I remember rightly a much smaller "celebration " happened in a local pub....I think everything was covered by insurance and she then went on to redo the wedding 6 months later in the summer...at the time I think she was gutted...but in honesty the photos were absolutley amazing!!!...I think shes still around popping in various threads so you never know she might pop by and share her experiences with you ...or at least a few pics

Best of luck for the big day...what will be will be and whatever happens enjoy it whatever the weather.

One of the girls I work with was saying earlier about how cold it is this month, we'll likely get more snow, and a friend of hers is getting married in a couple of weeks. She's getting her photos taken at Downhill (which is a beach!), and we all were saying how pretty it would be if it did snow!! Photos would look fab with the bride wearing flowery wellies with the white dress :D

Keep looking at the bigger picture! I love your thinking!! :)

Oh, meant to add, I was at a wedding in Scotland in the middle of January when the snow was really bad. We were flying there on the day and our flight was delayed by a few hours - but we still made it to the wedding by the skin of our teeth and everyone made a big effort to get there. The pictures in the snow are lovely and it was really nice to go out and stand in the snow in the middle of the evening when we were all absolutely sweltering from dancing a very energetic ceilidh!

There is a picture now on Facebook of the bride trudging back to the hotel from the wedding venue in the snow wearing wellies and a coat over her wedding dress...that is hardcore! :D

Thank you all so much xx

  • Big hugs! My parents got married in the worst winter ever, in 1947 feb 15th, and the few photos were lovely, magical! You probably wont even notice the weather, just relax and enjoy the day!!! And post pics asap! Hugs xxxx

Do you know what...I'm going to be ever the optimist here and say whatever the weather is someone will make a comment, either its too hot or too cold, could have been brighter etc etc but thats guests and sometimes family for you.....but for you and your husband I expect you will look back after the event and say it was the most perfect day of your lives...so actually the weather wont matter a jot....and your only long term complaint will be that the day happened too quickly!
