I've had a really bad week on ebay :o(

I don't usually buy much from ebay, but Thought i'd treat myself and had a bit of a buying spree last week, 6 items in total. All the parcels have arrived this week and 4 out of the 6 are not as discribed and in poor condition:(
All items were from different sellers, i just can't believe the odds.

Its so frustrating and has really put me off.

I know what you mean, I now expect the worst and get excited when an item is actually as described!

Thats a shame as it's puts buyer off and the good sellers are punished for the crud ones.

Same here except mine were scammers (all had good feedback previous and decided to turn scammer this week), INRs from TRS and extremely slow dispatchers.

I've been complaining about it on MSE for a while already :(

eBay is the new Wonga with 0% APR. Need £100 quickly? List an item worth £150 for £100 with 20 working days dispatch time. Get paid, withdraw and use the money, then refund after the buyer opens a case.

I have also had bad buying experiences recently from private sellers, I find there is always a high percentage of badly described items. I get fed up and stop buying (except new items from business sellers), then I forget, and do a bit of buying again. I would say roughly 50% of items from private sellers have been misdescribed, and it is very rare to be be offered return postage cost or to bin it, even for small cheap items, they usually just get defensive at any criticism.

I have just contacted a selller as realised the item was not what is was described as, not a hint of an apology in their reply.

There are some awful sellers out there, some even have 100% feedback. I will now stop buying again, until I forget again!

I dont buy many 2nd hand items on Ebay - but i sell all mine.

I tend to over-describe. "Shirt has a small bobble lower back" . "Table has a small mark on the leg". You would need a microscope to see it half the time.:rotfl::rotfl:

I probably get less money - but buyers are over the moon they are better than expected.
  • Thanks for replying to my grumble :)

Im the same techspec, when i sell, i carefully consider my description and list any issues that might put a buyer off, take loads of pictures.

One of the items i bought was a top which buttons down the front, listed has: very good condition, only worn once or twice, it arrived with 3 key buttons missing and stunk of fabreeze. sellers reply to initial contact was: I didn't know, can't you fix it?

I have looked back over the problem items listings and there is a recurring theme of, very brief descriptions, (sometimes with a lot of waffle about their T&C and little else about the actual item!) and all only had 1 photo.

I'm genuinely surprised that people would even consider selling something that they must know the buyer won't be happy with.

Hi, we buy off ebay and sometimes I dont understand how people can send their items in the state they do. Even a quick wipe would do but they cant even do that.

People will likely keep doing it whilst buyers are scared of leaving low DSR and neutral or negative feedback when these things happen.
