My car is due for annual service, but I broke my leg and it has been off the road for nearly 6 months. It's only done 2000 miles since the last one, which cost a small fortune. Do I really need to pay out for another one when I put it back on the road, which I would like to do soon? I'd be grateful for advice.

Is it a new car that requires regular servicing to maintain the warranty? Probably yes. Otherwise if you've been starting it up every now and again then the car should be fine. You would then only do a service for your own peace of mind....brakes might be less effective if you haven't moved it.
You will need to get a new MOT when you put it back on the road which will highlight any problems and then you can service it if it fails.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Leaving a car stood for a period of time is never good, you should really have asked a friend to start it every week or two, and preferably drive it around the block to keep the brakes freed up.0

It's been started a couple of times but there's very little petrol in it. I've recharged the battery. Couldn't get anyone to take it out because no tax and only insured for me.
I'm going to take HappyMJ's advice and just get the MOT to start with. The car is 7 years old so no warranty to worry about.

Fair enough, good luck - it should be fine.
Brakes are the main one - if the handbrake releases that's half the battle in my experience
Enjoy being on the road again, I remember when I was without a car for a week I was lost.0 -
Maybe just get an oil change done, under £50.0
