Oh My Gawd! Job Interview Next Week :(

Recieved a letter today stating i've been invited to an interview for next week at a Solicitors firm - i've worked in one before but i'm wetting myself because it states there will be THREE people interviewing me, i've only had one person usually doing it, but three all just being there to listen to me ramble on, oh my gawd!

Any Tips?

Ahhh i'm scared (and its so not like me to get nervous either)

It's very scary I agree. Watch your body language and try to appear calm but not too laid back. Smile. They'll have decided in advance who is asking what so concentrate on the one asking the question but include the others in eye contact after or during your answer. Think of questions you want to ask them at the end. That's one of the hardest bits I think as they've usually told you everything by that time. Just think to yourself, I'll be out of here in half an hour and they won't have eaten me. If you're in there half an hour they are interested in you. Good luck

Well - don't ramble on. And that applies if you are interviewed by one or twenty.

Oh...and if you go prepared with questions but find you go blank when they ask "do you have any questions?', you can always say "you've actually covered most of the questions I was going to ask'. It's always worked for me and it allows you a little bit of extra thinking time to try and remember at least one of the questions you were going to ask.

    Good luck!

Did this job come with a personal spec? i.e. experience, qualifictions, your IT experience etc

The 3 person panel is getting more and more common now. In reality its purpose is to ensure that every interviewee gets a fair and equal opportunity. I suspect that each panel member will ask you a range of questions mostly in the same topic. These questions will be directly related to the person spec.

You should try and spend sometime this weekend answering some made up questions . For example tell us about your experience(s) dealing with a difficult client? If you've never had a difficult client before then don't be afraid to say so. Don't forget the killer question "Tell us about your strengths and weaknesses?"

Wish I'd thought about posting a similar plea here earlier on this week as I had an interview on Thursday and whilst it didn't go pathetically wrong it could have been load better.

    Good luck at the interview!

    yours

    Congratulations Crazy guy :T

I had three people interview me for Med school, quite initimidating. Speak to whoever asked you the question, but glance at the other two while answering so not to ignore them.

I found it scary when I walked in but I was ok when I got started! Good luck xx

don't think that it's an interview that you are going for, think about another situation that you know that you are comfortable at, I do this whenever I have to do and see the headmaster at my childrens school, I don't see him as in control, I see him as a contractor who has not fulfilled his contract, so if you can get into this state of mind, say for example the interview board are a pub quizz team, then you will find it far easier to deal with

as for body language, they may ask you want you are good at, look them straight in the eyes, learn forward slightly and don't figgit, then tell them. when you have your interview, sit down as if you are in a resturant, comfy but not too chilled

there are so many tips that you can use but you could be concentraiting so much on them that you fail the interview because you are thinking about body language too much

if they ask you a question you do not understand ask them to re-word it, if you want to have time to think about a question and come back to it, ask them to park that one and you will come back to it later

good luck, and remember, it's just a pub quizz ;-)

Well had my interview - Think I came out of it quite well, no problems with the questions asked and it was quite informal - Was worried there was 3 people but it actually made sense why there was three, 2 HR persons and Supervisor and I was quite relaxed but not so relaxed that it looks like i was in the pub.

The only bit i thought !!!! was a common mistake, they asked about strengths and I thought of a few but i dont think of as many as she was hoping but ahh well another interview lined up but appartly will hear from them soon but if i got it it would be ace!
