Can I cook ham when its been in an oven full of gas?

This is a really odd question but I have just come home from a school event after leaving a large joint of ham in the oven for 2 hours to find a house filled with gas. The ignition has stopped working on the oven and instead of igniting it has spent 2 hours filling the house and oven with gas. Obviously I have opened all the windows and de-gassed the house. Now I am looking at a large and expensive joint of ham (which I can ill afford to throw) which has been in a gas filled oven for 2 hours. Ok if its well washed and boiled can it be eaten?????

tbh - I would be worried about the meat absorbing chemicals from the gas - if you had said five or ten minutes - but TWO HOURS? I would chuck it - reluctantly, but I wouldn't take the chance!
and after two hours in a gas chamber - I doubt very much it would taste good!0 -
The ham will be ok. I would be worried that the oven leaked gas for two hours. Modern gas systems should shut off the supply if no pilot or ignition occurs.0

Gas is non toxic. Nothing wrong with it. It's only lethal when burnt...especially in a house full of it. Or burnt without enough oxygen creating carbon monoxide.:footie:

I think I would cook it, but sample it for funny "gas smell" taste before serving.0

I'd probably soak it for a couple of hours just to be on the safe side, that should get rid of any lingering 'niffs' but I wouldn't chuck it that would be so wasteful0
