I can never get the Daily Mail book vouchers to scan at self-scanners. They won't read the barcode unless you have a hand-held zapper from my experience. Boohoo.

I am out of vouchers now. Lost my bag of vouchers too as my toddler plucked it out my bag the other day and I didn't notice. Was gutted. Have to start a new collection now.
    3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

  • i could have cried today! went all the way to tescos (about a 20 min trip) with Dh and all 3 kids for the first time ever as was gonna get him to do a couple of transactions, to use up all of the many vouchers i bought... but the SA read the back of every single voucher and wouldn't use them!! bought sun and mail in multiples and have loads of copies of the vouchers, but embarassed to use them now! He called the manager over and she said if customer hasn't bought the item, then no voucher.....! Hubby dying of shame, kids screaming by this point, so left half of it there and left, passing the manager who then pointed me out to a colleague, saying i tried to use the £4 voucher...

O horrible day...BUT i will not give up and am trying to leave DH at home with brats so i can go and try again at another tesco....

awww, poor u. don't give up. just unlucky this tme. i have had few refused, but most of the time OK. Could u try self scan machines?

yeah i got refused the DMx2 & OKx2 but they let me use £18 clothing a very strange day

Like you say a bit strange. I have been mostly successful with my choice of SA in recent weeks and thought I was on a winner today, I'm sure she has scanned away no problems in recent weeks. Common point seems to be mention of 'items not bought.' Will try another store tomorrow and make the shops smaller. Hope they are not having a national clamp down as I have just got used to this. Had the hump that I only got £5 knocked off a £25 shop. Sadly nearest self scan is 45 minutes away up the motorway.

Must say I HAVE noticed a tightening up on coupon acceptance at Tesco.
My Asda have in the past 6 months been only taking 10% - unless I hit really lucky and get a sa who couldn't care less, or use a self scan and for some reason there is no cover on coupon slit asking for you to get prior approval.
But in recent months my Tescos are only accepting one coupon if you haven't bought the item ( thank goodness for the high value ones!), and they seem to be scrutinising the coupons themselves much more closely and questioning whether that specific store sells that particular mag etc.
Today (horror of horrors) Tesco sa actually said - oh thats more than 10% of your shop so I cannot accept it
I was so surprised and flustered, I didn't get a lower value coupon out of my collection, but actually paid the full price for my shop

I am keeping calm (honest Mr Mannering!) and hoping this is just a temporary blip.
Stay patient and just try another day - anybody got any young male student type sas who are struggling to stay awake at the till ? They tend to be the best in my opinion - not being ageist or sexist of course, I am sure they will all make wonderful Drs amd teachers and Lawyers etc :D Just that they obviously have their minds on much more important matters than "Did the old Bag actually buy GQ" or "How come she has a £4 book token when she's only bought dog food ?":D
