I have an interview next Friday for a job I think I'd really like. I have been reading up on the net on common interview questions and suggested answers. They all seem rather contrived.
Its been a very long time since I went for an interview and I'd appreciate any input.
!!!!!! do you answer to why did you apply for this job?

Well, think about why you did apply for it. Think of location, is it convenient to get there? What do you know of the company? Have you heard they are good to work for? Do you think you could extend your skills there better than the job you're in that's if your working at present. I think it's quite reasonable to have extra money as one reason to apply for a job but find something else as well.
Good luck:hello:0 -
I see this job as one where I can bring and develop my talents.
The company is well respected in its field and is one I would like to be associated with.
This is the sort of company that appears to be ambitious and going places and that is certainly the sort of employer I would be keen to work for
Stuff like that?We all evolve - get on with it0 -

If you were to use this though i'd make sure you can elaborate on it if they ask Why do you think that? Why is this the sort of company that appears to be ambitious? - otherwise you'll look stupid
Is there any websites which gives good answers to those awful questions?0 -
learn a little bit about the company as they may ask you this, eg how long it's been about, it public appearance etc say for example you are going for a job with sky, you can say that you want to work the the 'number 1 entertainment choice' which is how sky see themselves, so if your company has a simular aim/statement find out what it is and us it0

Thanks for your help folks. If anyone else has any input I'd really appreciate it.Retail is the only therapy that works0

You should say something like I would like this job inorder to gain more experience and expertise within the industry, which would enable me to climb up to a senior level, etc.
I think saying you want the by itself would not result in you failing the interview progress, but I think it would decrease your chances in getting one!
Just thought I would add my opion as I have been reading loads and loads of websites for my interview next Thursday! Good luck! lethal!0 -
As "it's a job you think you'd like"....
What do you think you'd like about it..?0 -
For me it was quite specific.
It involved an area of work where I'd had previous experience and offered a training and development package that appealed to me. (Must have worked, I'm still here five years later!)Gwlad heb iaith, gwlad heb galon0 -

Quite right. Knowing about the company and what they do is absolutely crucial.
I have interviews many people and when I have asked "And what do you know about what we do?" - the number of blank stares has been astonishing. We all evolve - get on with it0
