3-course dinners for under £7

Hi all,
I'm just curious, has anyone ever tried this...
My OH and I regularly go out for meals, but we're never hungry enough to get a huge portion of food - especially as it's about £10 for just a main dish.
I've recently discovered that many places have a children's menu, where it has always cost under £7 for a 3-course meal. Ok, so the portions are smaller, but for those with a smaller appetite, it's great.
Has anyone ever tried this before? My OH and I just went out for dinner, 3 course meal for the two of us, plus adrink each, for under £15. Can anyone beat that???
The best thing is that most places that have kiddies menus don't have an upper age limit, so in theory anyone could order off them... :T
I'd be interested to hear if anyone else has tried this...
Thanks,
Richard

Welcome to MSE and OS Richard :hello:
Good tip, if you can get away with it :T :T
My experience of Childrens Menu's are that they have an age limit on them (unless it's a Happy Meal or similar takeaway place).
Those adults with smaller appetites could just have the starter and dessert, or, in my own case, I just have the starter or a main - I'm not a pudding person generally.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I would never choose the "KIDS MEAL" version, chances are youll be lumbered with chicken nuggets which I just would never eat- certainly not out, Id make them myself- at least I know whats gone in them
Now if you are talking about making a 3 course meal for 2, I reckon I could do that for 7 quid easy peasy! leaving you money left over for a couple of bottles of vino :beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
at some places i see they have an upper age limit on kids meals at aged 12.
I regulary go to his pub for lunch, and its £8.95 for a 3course meal, and i walk out of there stuffed, and not being able to eat anything for the ret of the day.
They have the same menu for night time which is a few quid more but still below £15
I'll have to find out which chain it is, and see if its countrywide.
I go to Deckers, Manchester and the Water Millock in Bolton0 -
Morning all,
Some restaurants will sell you a half portion of whatever is on the menu..maincourse only I would think, certainly worth asking about if you have a small appetite.

i thought u meant cooking at home a 3 course meal for under £7.
which i'd imagine would be very easy.
as for going out. um well it been so long that i have actually gone out for a meal i can't comment.
( does anyone else find , they read the menu and think wow they want how much for that:shocked: !!!! i could make that at home for only a few pence:embarasse )0 -
Hi all,
Thanks for the feedback on this one... The scary thing I need to add is that I've been able to do this in some big hotel chains too. :rotfl: £14 for a main vs £6.95 for their kids menu. Bargain! :j
Anyway, I have a question:Now if you are talking about making a 3 course meal for 2, I reckon I could do that for 7 quid easy peasy! leaving you money left over for a couple of bottles of vino
I assume that you're talking here about making it yourself at home? If so, yeah cooking a 3-course meal at home is easy and I appreciate that. But when out travelling around, and miles away from a kitchen of your own, eating a good meal on a budget seems nigh impossible nowadays...
Thanks all...
