mortgage redemption fee/interest

i phoned halifax with the helpline number from this site. i gave them my mortgage roll number and they said that the fee should have been 75.00 but that i was charged 115.00 at the end of my mortgage in may 2005. they said they would send me out a cheque for 40.00 which i have just received. i asked them about interest and they said that i would have to write to halifax as that was a different matter. i am a bit confused about how much i have to write and ask for. any ideas would be much appreciated.
also, a big thanks to martin as i would not have known about this if he hadn't made it public knowledge.
p.s. I also had my ex-partners name removed from the mortgage in march 02the admin fee was 160.00. can this be justified?
advice would be really appreciated.
