Equity release schemes

Hi all, i need some advice on behalf of my parents. They have been talking about releasing some equity in their home which is worth approx 200k (mortgage all paid off) They have spoken to Saga who reckon they would be able to release approx 55k for them. I am not familiar with equity release schemes so can someone explain…

I've spoke to my family today and decided against the whole equity release. I explained we could discuss them possibly giving us some money later on as they did say they will be looking to downsize in the future. They both have non-state pension's to live off but i think we should see how they get on once they retire, as you never know do you. Thanks for all your help anyway.
