Mackenzie hall keep bugging me for a debt I know nothing about

Please help!
A while ago I got a weird letter from Mackenzie Hll telling me they were trying to trace me and to call them immediatey. Luckily I looked them up and found and old thread on moneysavingexpert.com so I just left it.
Next I get a letter saying "despite repeated requests for payment by our client your overdue account in the sum of £100 with our client 1st credit - hsbc still remains outstanding. Accordingly documents have now been prepared to enable the issue of a claim aganst you in a local court". It then goes on to say that to avoid this action I should pay by a set date. The only thing I could think of was an overdrawn account I had years ago. However, I thought I had paid this all off the last time someone chased it up six years ago.
After reading this forum and debtline's website I sent them the following letter. I also sent a copy of the same letter to 1st credit-hsbc:
"You have contacted me regarding the account with the above reference number, which you claim is owed by myself.
I would point out that under the Limitation Act 1980 Section 5 “an action founded on simple contract shall not be brought after the expiration of six years from the date on which the cause of action accrued.”
I would also point out that the OFT say under their Debt Collection Guidance on statute barred debt that “it is unfair to pursue the debt if the debtor has heard nothing from the creditor during the relevant limitation period”.
The last payment of this debt was made over six years ago and no further acknowledgement or payment has been made since that time. Unless you can provide evidence of payment or written contact from me in the relevant period under Section 5 of the Limitation Act, I suggest that you are no longer able to take any court action against me to recover the alleged amount claimed.
The OFT Debt Collection Guidance states further that “continuing to press for payment after a debtor has stated that they will not be paying a debt because it is statue barred could amount to harassment contrary to section 40 (1) of the Administration of Justice Act 1970”.
I await your written confirmation that no further contact will be made concerning the above account and confirmation that this matter is now closed.
I have also sent this same letter to 1st Credit - HSBC.
I look forward to your reply."
By the time I sent the letter it was actually the deadline for payment. I sent the letter in an email to mackenzie hall to make sure I met the deadline and sent them a hard copy of the letter by special delivery so that it arrived the very next day. It did arrive at both companies - I checked on Royal Mail.
I thought that was the last I had heard of the matter until I received another letter from Mackenzie Hall - exactly the same as the second, except the deadline for payement was later. It was as if they completely ignored my letter when I have proof that they received it.
What am I to do now? They have never even told me what this debt is for. Please help!

if you have not acknoewleged ( eg discussed payments, paid or otherwise ) the debt for 6 years then they are whistling in the dark on this.
Anna- you can report them to the FSA and the police for harrassment- I suggest you do so - and also buy a whistle and give them what for when they call and harrass you:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0
