Go and speak to at ,east one and ideally two other IFAs, discuss your requirements and get them to quote for the work. This will give you something to compare against, andotentially haggle with.
To question his charges you need to have substantiation, and getting quotes from others is the only real way, though ensure you are comparing like for like. If needs be get them to amend their proposals to get consistency.
My only other thoughts are that it isn't necessarily beneficial to mix business and pleasure, an element of objectivity is always good, and of he makes a complete pigs ear of it are you prepared to complain, initially to him or his from and ultimately to the regulator?0 -
Thanks. I don't have time to do the rounds with other IFAs unfortunately. I only have a week to get things in place.
I do trust him, but then I'm not really giving him anything taxing to do!!Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -
If you know what it is you want, why not just do it?
It will certainly be less hassle, as the IFA will have to spend considerable time measuring your inside leg and taking your pulse etc., and if you are then going to disregard any advice that doesn't coincide with what you have already decided, it seems a waste of time and money?
If you want execution only, then just choose the cheapest provider that is convenient.
Perhaps you've discussed your plans informally with your IFA friend, and feel you have made use of his knowledge already. Explain you've decided to DIY and take him to the Gavroche for dinner.:)"Things are never so bad they can't be made worse" - Humphrey Bogart0 -
So is this day 3/7? How's it going?0

3 days ago you asked if you could set up a pension within a week, I wondered how it was going for you?
Will it complete in time?0 -
