Student Loans and credit rating.
Options
Hello everyone! I graduated from my Masters about 5 years ago. I left Uni saddled with debt; my student loan, my Master's loan, overdraft, credit cards. I left the UK and started working in Europe (earning and paying my tax and pension contributions into the system of the country I live in). Thankfully (and it wasn't very easy) I have paid off my Master's loan (though some payments weren't made on time!), I paid off my overdrafts, I paid off the credit card (and immediately snipped it up promising myself to never touch one again) and so all that's left is the student loan.
With the student loan, I am paying back by direct debit; just over the minimum amount due (I cant afford more unfortunately). The question is this: when I left the UK my credit rating was in tatters; with my all my loans/debts now repaid, save for the student loan which is being repaid on time every month will my credit rating be any better than before or will the fact that I'm not resident in the UK, not paying UK taxes etc have some kind of detrimental effect on my credit rating returning to a more normal rating? I'm asking this question for if/when I ever decide to return to the UK.
Thank you for any input!

a student loan is not on your credit report. Regular payments makes no odds as it comes direct out your wages anyway so it would be impossible for you to not pay it. So no, your student loan payments has no bearing on your credit report.Trainee Building Surveyor
