Blackhorse Car Finance

I asked for a settlement figure from Blackhorse for car finance loan, which I received by post. I tried to settle the loan online but it would not accept a payment over £1000. So I phoned up and made a payment using an automated phone system. I had to enter my date of birth and the long number on my debit card plus the security number on the back of the card. It was only after everything was confirmed I realised at no time did they ask me for the agreement number. I'm concerned the payment won't come off my account. I'm not sure how it can without me providing the agreement number.
Does anyone know how this works and how it can come off my account without me providing the agreement number. The payment was over a thousand pounds so it's a lot of money.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

  • It may be that if you have "Registered" a phone number with them and used that phone number to call from to make the payment that it will register against the account.
Worth a phone call in the morning and request any confirmation of the received payment in writing.
  • I phoned Blackhorse the other day to check the date of my first payment.

Like you I had to go through an automated system until I could speak with an advisor. I had my agreement in front of me but at no point was I asked for the number - I too was surprised that this information wasn't asked for.

Going through all the options I had to confirm my date of birth and when I got through to the advisor she immediately knew the make and model of my car.

She did ask me for my name and address right enough but that's all.

Don't know if that helps or not?

Probably best to ring them in the morning for clarification.

thanks for the replies they have reassured me a little bit but I'll still be worried till I ring them. I'm regretting not just waiting to speak to someone tomorrow to make the payment.

Just be aware that if you call today they may not be able to see the payment on their system until it clears fully, which may be 3-5 working days
