Do I really stop paying NI at 60?

My tax code notice for this current year says that my employer should not deduct NI payments once I reach the age to qualify for a state pension. I have just turned 60, but due to the changing of retirement dates for women I do not qualify for a state pension until I am 63.
Do I assume that this is an HMRC !!!! up?

When the time is right you will get a letter from HMRC to give to your employer that will allow them to pay you without deducting the employee portion only of NI/ Your employer will still have to pay their portion.0

I don't follow what you think they are doing wrong - my understanding is that what they are telling you is correct...My tax code notice for this current year says that my employer should not deduct NI payments once I reach the age to qualify for a state pension.
At 60, you're not yet at the age where you qualify for a state pension, so you continue paying NI until then.0 -
The reason I think they have done something wrong is that this comment was on my Tax Code notice the year I turned 60, but not the previous year or the one after. It seems to imply that HMRC think I am entitled to the state pension at 60.
I know I am not, but if HMRC does not know how can they expect anyone to know for certain?0 -

BUT from what you say they DO know and they are giving you the correct information - that you are not yet eligible to stop paying NI contributions, and will not be until you reach state retirement age.
I imagine that they include such a statement on the codings of those turning sixty to try to head off at the pass those people who are out of touch or are looking at out of date sources of information that wrongly think that they won't have to pay any NI just because they have reached sixty - this used to be the case but isn't any longer.0
