vat after bankruptcy

I am going to court tomorrow with my papers for bankruptcy,
I have just got my wife to look over them and she has suggested that I put vat liability down as a debtor, as I have breached the threshold for vat but I'm not registered ,

so I was wondering can the VAT come after the debt after the bankruptcy? or is it dead with the business?

Thanks in advance

when did you breach the VAT registration threshold?

(dead with business, but other issue may arise)

    Sole trader yes?

The fine alone would be 15%.

Could be worth registering now and putting an estimated figure on the BR order. What turnover was declared on the self assessment?
  • 2011/2012 was £123000 purchases of £86,000
    2012 to date is £140,000

    if that helps

In the future get your customers to buy the materials direct

In the meantime too late to register now. Include an estimate (say £15k) and tell OR that you think you should have registered but that would also lead to a reduction in your SA profits and an income tax refund of perhaps £4.5k.
