I always handwash silk, disolve the powder/liquid (liquid is best realy for silk) in warm water, pop blouse in and gently agitate it around for a few mins, dont rub or squash! then empty water and refill bowl/basin with warm water and rinse, rinse gentley several times then lay out a towel and put blouse onto it, roll up towel with blouse in it (like a swiss roll!!) gently pat to remove excess water then unroll and lay blouse out flat to dry! easy!!

Honestly? Don't do it, you'll ruin it...silk never feels or looks the same and always shrinks slightly.

I had an originally expensive silk top from Warehouse but it came from Ebay cheaply, so I risked washing it gently in cold water with a small squirt of stardrops and it was fine.
  • I think a lot of it depends on the way the fabric is made. I have some silk tops that don't object to gentle washing, and others that do. The main problem is they can go all crinkly and it's then very difficult to iron them properly without damaging them further.
