Hi there....
Well I have been very busy trying to do some decluttering, and this weekend decided to attack an old wooden storage trunk! The trunk was infact my godmothers fathers army trunk, my mum painted it many years ago and used it to store things.
I had a sort out of my darling monsters baby clothes, but only managed to get rid of a couple of vests!!:o
But what I did look through that I had totally forgotten about - the trunk has not been opened for maybe all the 5 years we have lived here, My youngest DD's dolls house is sat on top...
enough waffling!!
inside are many chair backs and arm covers & table runners - all hand made by one of my grandmothers,
I also found 2 embroidered fire screens, not on frames anymore - my dad is going to frame them, along with what looks like some Chinese silk with embroidery, its a wee bit fraying, but very beautiful.. Oh and also in the box are some hand stitched white cotton dresses, my grandfather was born in 1905 and we have a picture of him as a toddler in one of them, (seems little boys were put in dresses back then)
I want to find a way to use some of the other items, as is a shame that they are all shut away.
Any ideas?
thank you

How lovely!
Are you wanting to use them in your house, or could you donate them to a local museum so lots of people could appreciate them?0 -
"Antimacassar" chair backs make great bags or cushions, stitched onto something like red, blue or brown velvet. Not suggesting you should rush out & buy acres of velvet, but an old pair of curtains does the job rather well.Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0
